Ranked No. 5 in the USA Today/NFCA poll and No. 7 in the ESPN.com / USA Softball survey, the University of Florida softball team will play its final series of the regular season this weekend at SEC rival Arkansas. GatorVision will have live video for subscribers on Friday (7 p.m.; all times Eastern), while ESPN will carry the games on Saturday (7:30 p.m.) and Sunday (1 p.m.). WGGG (1230-AM) will provide radio coverage, with live stats available on the Razorbacks’ Website. 

 

#VoteHannah: Rogers Chosen as Finalist for 2014 Softball Senior Class Award
Hannah Rogers is one of 10 softball finalists for the 2014 Senior CLASS Award. Fans can vote at www.seniorCLASSaward.com each day through May 12. Fan votes will be combined with ballots from media and coaches to determine the winner. The award will be presented at the Women’s College World Series.

 

A three-time All-America, All-SEC and All-Southeast Region selection, Rogers is the second pitcher in program history to win 100 games. She also was named to the 2013 SEC Academic Honor Roll.

 

UF Looks to Improve Position for SEC Tournament

Florida currently stands in a tie with Georgia for fifth place in the SEC standings. With one weekend to go in the conference’s regular-season schedule, the Gators could finish as high as a tie for second in the league, depending on the outcome of the final three SEC games. The top six teams get a first-round bye in next week’s 10-team SEC Tournament.

 

Gators Keep No. 1 Ranking in Latest NCAA RPI
Florida remains No. 1 in the latest Ratings Percentage Index, released Monday by the NCAA. The Gators are one of four Southeastern Conference teams in the index’s top 10. Arkansas checks in at No. 72.

 

Gator Bites—Setting Up the Series
Florida is 42-10 (12-9 SEC), while Arkansas has a 27-24 (5-16 SEC) record entering Wednesday night’s game against Oklahoma … The Gators lead the all-time series against the Razorbacks 38-10… UF has won 18 consecutive games against Arkansas, with the Razorbacks’ last win coming on April 7, 2007, in Gainesville… Florida has won 13 straight meetings in Fayetteville, dating back to March 22, 2003.

 

It’s Nice to See You Again
Arkansas assistant coach Coy Adkins was a volunteer assistant with Florida for two seasons (2010-11) before joining the Razorbacks’ staff in June 2011.

 

Looking Back: Missouri & USF

The Orange and Blue went 2-2 last week, defeating in-state rival USF 17-1 before taking the middle game of a three-game weekend series against Missouri in a 9-4 decision… Florida hit seven home runs as a team on the way to outscoring its opponents 33-15 during the four games… Wednesday’s victory over the Bulls marked the 12th time this year that Florida has scored 10+ runs... With the midweek win, the Gators finished the nonconference portion of the regular season with a 30-1 record, which leads the SEC… The Orange and Blue also improved to 7-1 this season against teams from the state of Florida… Junior Briana Little paced Florida with a .455 average (5x11) during the four games, tying for the team lead (Stephanie Tofft) with five runs scored and producing five RBI... Sophomore Kelsey Stewart set the tone for the Gators from the leadoff spot with a .400 average (6x15), four runs scored and three stolen bases… Junior Lauren Haeger slugged two home runs and drove in a team-high six runs, and also came out of the bullpen to record all 21 outs in Saturday’s win over the Tigers... Rogers picked up the week’s other victory with a complete game in Wednesday’s five-inning victory against the Bulls… The Gators were perfect on six stolen-base attempts during the four contests, while their opponents did not attempt a steal.

 

Next Up

Next week, the Gators will travel to Columbia, S.C., to participate in the 2014 SEC Tournament. The tournament runs Wednesday (May 7) thru Saturday (May 10), with all games during the first three days airing on ESPNU and the championship game airing on ESPN2. WGGG (1230-AM) will provide radio coverage. Live stats will be available through Gametracker.
