Gainesville, Fla.

Head Coach Tim Walton will participate in a one-hour radio show each of the next three Mondays.

Gator Softball Head Coach Tim Walton, the University of Florida Athletic Association and Florida Sports Talk, a radio home of the University of Florida softball team, have teamed up for a special three-show series, Gator Hotline with Tim Walton, to talk softball as the Gators wrap up the regular-season slate and head toward the postseason.

Gator Hotline with Tim Walton will debut Monday, April 28, from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Ballyhoo Grill in Gainesville and will be hosted by Adam Schick, Gator soccer, women’s basketball and softball play-by-play commentator and co-host of The Midday Tailgate on ESPN 850 each weekday. The show will air on WGGG (1230-AM) in Gainesville and WMOP (900-AM) in Ocala, with an online broadcast available at www.FloridaSportsTalk.fm.

Gator fans will be able to attend the show live at Ballyhoo and ask questions on air. Fans can also call 352-629-6900 to ask questions to Coach Walton during the broadcast.

In his ninth year at Florida, Walton boasts a 479-112 (.810) record at the helm of the Gator softball program, having accumulated a career record of 602-176 (.774) in his 12th year as a head coach. Walton, a four-time SEC Coach of the Year, has led the Gators to SEC Championships in 2008, 2009 and 2013, with five trips to the Women’s College World Series in Oklahoma City, Okla., in the last six years dating back to 2008. Under Walton’s watch, Florida played for the WCWS National Championship in both 2009 and 2011.

Walton has tutored 13 All-Americans and Academic All-Americans during his time in Gainesville and earned his 600th career win last Sunday, when the Gators defeated Texas A&M 8-0 (6 innings).

The Orange and Blue have one series remaining in the 2014 regular season, as the No. 3/5 Gators will wrap up SEC play with a three-game set at Arkansas next weekend before heading to Columbia, S.C., May 7-10 for the 2014 SEC Tournament.

Florida will then look for its 12th consecutive NCAA Tournament bid, having been a top-five national seed for six straight years from 2008-13.

Ranked No. 1 in the latest RPI, Florida is 42-10 thus far, including a 12-9 mark in the SEC and a 15-9 (.625) record against ranked opponents. Florida boasts a 30-1 mark in nonconference play, tops in the league.
