Gainesville, Fla.

Sammi Burgess picked up her second consecutive ALC Rookie of the Week honor Tuesday.

Sammi Burgess was named the American Lacrosse Conference Rookie of the Week for the second consecutive week and fourth overall this season, as announced by the league office on Tuesday.

 

Burgess scored a career-high four goals to lead the No. 4 Gators as they outlasted No. 5 Northwestern, 13-12, and clinched the ALC regular season title on Saturday. The freshman attack added an assist to score a game-high five points. Burgess also recorded a shooting percentage of 1.000 and picked up two ground balls and a draw control.

 

The Gators will return to action during the ALC tournament May 1-4 in Evanston, Ill. Florida is the No. 1 seed for the tournament, securing a first-round bye. The Gators will play in the semifinal game on Friday, May 2 at 4:30 p.m. Florida will face the winner of game 1 between the No. 4 and No. 5 seeds.
