Saturday April 19, 2014Torres Takes Top-5 in Round Two of 2014 SEC Championship

Birmingham, Ala.

The Florida women’s golf team jumped two spots to take seventh on the team leaderboard after two rounds of the 2014 SEC Women’s Golf Championship at Greystone Golf and Country Club today.

The two freshmen on the team, Maria Torres and Karolina Vlckova, led the way in round two on the Founder’s Course. Torres remained consistent and ended day two at just 1-over, tied for fifth individually. Vlckova rebounded by an impressive 10 strokes and sits at 10-over after day two.

No. 13 Vanderbilt shot a notable 1-under today to take first on the leaderboard by six strokes. Florida heads into the final round tomorrow at 29-over (603).

Head Coach Emily Glaser Says: “Our freshmen played well today. Karolina rebounded from yesterday and Maria was steady again. Overall, it felt like we improved. But scoring-wise, it was not enough to move up the leaderboard very much. We have one more day to post a good number and I know that we are a good enough team to score better on this golf course.”
