After two weeks without competition, the Florida women’s golf team is ready to take the course again. Postseason play begins Friday for the 20th-ranked Gators in Birmingham, Ala., for the 2014 SEC Women’s Golf Championship.


The UF squad placed 13th last year at the Greystone Golf and Country Club. Junior Camilla Hedberg paced the 2013 Gators with a top-25 finish at a final 16-over (232). As a freshman in 2012, Hedberg earned a top-10 (T6) individual spot in the conference championship.


The Gators hold two SEC Championship titles: 1995 and 2008.


Course Information:

The tournament is being held at the par-72, 6,050-yard Greystone Golf and Country Club Founder’s Course, April 18-20.


Head Coach Emily Glaser Says: “We are pumped for this week.  Our conference is so deep, which will make for an exciting championship.  Our goal is to play smart and be tough the entire weekend.  If we do that we can be in the mix on Sunday.  The team has been working hard; now it's time to just go trust it.”

The Lineup:

·         Camilla Hedberg: With past success on the Founder’s Course, Hedberg returns to Birmingham looking to lead the Gators to their ninth top-10 finish of the 2013-14 season.

·         Sarah Schober: In her first season donning the Orange and Blue, Schober led the team with a 73.4 stroke average in 21 rounds of the regular season.

·         Maria Torres: Torres earned SEC Freshman of the Week honors after her stellar performance at the Allstate Intercollegiate in late February. She finished her first collegiate regular season with four top-25 finishes.

·         Karolina Vlckova: Vlckova enters her first collegiate conference championship with three top-25 finishes in the nine events of her freshman regular season.

·         Elcin Ulu: Rounding out the Florida five is Ulu, the lone Gator senior. Ulu shot 27-over in the 2013 SEC Championship.


SEC Showdown: Eight of the 14 SEC women’s golf teams are ranked in the Golf World/WGCA Coaches’ Poll with four of those teams earning top-15 honors.
