About Bob van Overbeek

Bob van Overbeek, a Boca Raton, Fla., native, earned All-American honors in doubles alongside Stephane Piro in 2013. The duo compiled a 15-10 overall record together after pairing up midseason and ranked No. 16 in the final ITA rankings. The pair played at the No. 1 doubles position for the final 17 dual matches. They earned an at-large bid into the NCAA doubles championship and won a tight three-set match against Pepperdine’s Francis Alcantara and Finn Tearney in the opening round. In the Round of 16, the Gator duo beat seventh-ranked Jarryd Botha and David Vieyra of Alabama in straight sets to advance to the Quarterfinals for All-American status.

A four-year letter winner for the Gators, van Overbeek also excelled in the classroom and in the community, earning SEC Academic Honor Roll honors and SEC Community Service Team honors. Bob also earned the 2011 Gator Academic Excellence Award and was voted the team’s most improved player after his freshman season. van Overbeek is on track to graduate with a degree in Economics.

On the court, van Overbeek consistently played near the top of the lineup his final two seasons and totaled 85 career singles victories, eighth in school history. His 83 doubles wins are sixth in UF history.  His 168 total wins ranked 10th in school history. van Overbeek reached as high as 17th in the singles rankings and was named to the All-SEC Second Team in 2012 and was on the SEC All-Freshman team in 2010.

About Agata Strausa

Agata Strausa is both a track and cross country All-American in her third and final season with the Gators, as Strausa became UF’s first cross country All-American since 2009 in November after racing in her second-ever cross country NCAA Championship. The academic and athletic standout from Riga, Latvia, is on track to graduate with a degree in Art History this spring.

Strausa has helped set the standard, not only on the track, but in the classroom for the Gators. She picked up USTFCCCA All-Academic honors for the third time last fall, marking two straight years as a cross country selection, while also garnering track USTFCCCA All-Academic honors last spring. Strausa will look to make it two consecutive track All-Academic honors her senior spring in 2014. Strausa was additionally named to the 2012-13 SEC Academic Honor Roll.

On the cross country course and track, Strausa has been a force, picking up All-America honors in the mile and DMR in 2012, the mile and 1,500m in 2013 and the DMR in 2014 for a total of five career All-America honors so far on the track. She’s a two-time SEC Indoor Champion in the Distance Medley Relay after the Gators took back-to-back titles in the relay in 2013 and 2014. She’s a five-time All-SEC selection in cross country, indoor and outdoor track and will look to make it six as she finishes her final outdoor campaign as a Gator. Strausa has played a part in two of UF’s SEC Indoor Championships in 2012 and 2014 and helped lead the Florida cross country team to the SEC Cross Country Championship in 2012.
