Ranked No. 5 in the USA Today/NFCA poll and No. 7 in the ESPN.com / USA Softball survey, the University of Florida softball team will travel to College Station, Texas, this weekend to face No. 21/22 Texas A&M in three-game series at the Aggie Softball Complex. The series begins Friday at 8 p.m. (all times Eastern), with the middle game set for 6 p.m. Saturday, followed by a 1 p.m. finale on Sunday. ESPNU will televise the first two games, with live video available on WatchESPN.com; GatorVision will have Sunday’s game for subscribers. ESPN 850 will carry all three games, with live stats on Texas A&M’s website. 

 

#VoteHannah: Rogers Chosen as Finalist for 2014 Softball Senior Class Award
Hannah Rogers (Lake Wales, Fla.) is one of 10 softball finalists for the 2014 Senior CLASS Award. Fans can vote at www.seniorCLASSaward.com each day through May 12. Fan votes will be combined with ballots from media and coaches to determine the winner. The award will be presented at the Women’s College World Series.

 

A three-time All-America, All-SEC and All-Southeast Region selection, Rogers is the second pitcher in program history to win 100 games. She also was named to the 2013 SEC Academic Honor Roll.

 

Gator Bites—Quick Notables
Florida is 37-8 (8-7 SEC), while Texas A&M is 28-14 (9-9; not including Wednesday’s game vs. Sam Houston State) … The Gators lead the all-time series against the Aggies 4-3, with all meetings coming during the tenure of ninth-year Head Coach Tim Walton The Gators are 11-7 this season against ranked opponents, including four straight wins.

 

Looking Back: NC State, FAMU & FSU

Florida won three nonconference games last week to extend its overall winning streak to six… The Gators are on their longest winning streak since they opened the season with 24 straight wins… The Gators stole six bases Friday (April 11) against Florida A&M, marking their third game with at least six steals this season (also: March 2 vs. Radford - 7, Feb. 16 vs. Minnesota - 6)... Briana Little (Middleburg, Fla.) started both games last weekend, marking her first starts since March 26. The junior batted .800 (4x5) in the pair of contests with four runs scored, a home run, four RBI and a stolen base… Gator pitchers allowed just two runs (one earned) on eight hits over 17.0 innings during the three games… The 4-2 victory on April 9 in Tallahassee marked Florida's seventh consecutive win at JoAnne Graf Field, dating back to the 2008 season.

 

Next Up

Following the weekend series against Texas A&M, the Gators return to Gainesville for their final homestand. Florida will host in-state rival USF on Wednesday at 6 p.m. before Missouri visits Friday thru Sunday for UF’s last home series of the regular season. GatorVision will have live video of the USF game and the first two contests against Missouri, while SUN Sports will carry the finale against the Tigers. WGGG (1230-AM) will provide radio coverage.
