Gainesville, Fla.

The Gators announced the signing Wednesday of Aleshia Ocasio.

The University of Florida softball team, under the direction of ninth-year head coach Tim Walton, added another future Gator to its 2014 signing class on Wednesday (April 16) as Aleshia Ocasio (St. Cloud, Fla.) submitted a National Letter of Intent. Ocasio will wear the Orange and Blue in 2014-15, joining the four-time SEC Champion and five-time WCWS participant Gators on the field for the 2015 softball season. The Gators now have signed six student-athletes during the 2013-14 academic year, as Walton announced the signing of five players at the start of the fall signing period in November.

“I’m excited about the signing of Lele,” Walton said. “She is a tremendous athlete and is very versatile on the field. Aleshia can play every position, and she will compete in her freshman year to get on the field at just about every spot. She’s one of the best players in the state, and she’s gained experience playing across the country. We’re glad to keep her in Florida as she continues her softball career. This is a great addition to our program in the late signing period.”
