Sammi Burgess was named the American Lacrosse Conference Rookie of the Week for the third time this season, as announced by the league office on Wednesday.
Burgess scored a career-high four goals and dished out an assist to finish the day with five points as Florida defeated Vanderbilt, 14-9. Burgess also grabbed three ground balls and a draw control as the Gators remained perfect in the ALC and claimed a share of the regular season title. The freshman attack ranks second for Florida with 40 points (27 g, 13 a), outscored only by Shannon Gilroy.
The Gators will conclude regular season play on Saturday, April 19 at No. 6/7 Northwestern in Evanston, Ill., at 2 p.m. eastern time. Florida will look to clinch the ALC regular season title and finish undefeated in the conference for the first time since 2012.
