Sunday April 13, 2014Gators Finish No. 2 in SEC, Earn No. 4 Seed in Tournament

Gainesville, Fla.

Florida has won 19 of the 26 SEC Tournament titles.

The Gators finished in a three-way tie for second in the final Southeastern Conference regular-season standings and will be the No. 4 seed in the SEC Tournament that gets underway Wednesday at the Mizzou Tennis Complex in Columbia, Mo.

The University of Missouri plays host to the five-day event that features all 14 league teams.

As one of the top four seeds, the Gators earned a two-round bye and will begin play on Friday, April 18 at 6 p.m. ET.

Florida will play the winner of the match between No. 5 Texas A&M and either No. 12 Arkansas or No. 13 Missouri.

Tiebreak explanation:

·         For seeds 2-4: Florida, Georgia and Vanderbilt end the season 11-2 in the SEC.

·         Their records amongst themselves play out so they are all 1-1 against each other.

·         Next tiebreak is against the No. 1 seed (and working down if needed).

·         Vanderbilt defeated #1 seed Alabama so they become the #2 seed.

·         It then goes to head-to-head between Florida and Georgia and Georgia defeated Florida, so Georgia is #3 seed while Florida is #4 seed.

Florida at the SEC Tournament

·         The Gators are 69-7 all-time in SEC Tournament matches.

·         Florida has won 19 of the 26 SEC Tournament titles.

·         Florida is the four-time defending SEC Tournament champion.

·         The Gators have advanced to the final of the SEC Tournament 24 times in the 26-year history of the event.
