FAYETTEVILLE, Ark.

Jackie Marchetta had the game-winning hit in a 2-1 win at Arkansas.

The Florida Gator softball team won both ends of a doubleheader 2-1 and 1-0 at Arkansas' Lady'Back Yard Saturday afternoon to improve to 5-0 on the road in Southeastern Conference play and stay alive in its quest for an Eastern Division title.

The Gators (28-13, 8-6 SEC) remain a game and a half behind leader South Carolina (23-12-1, 7-4), which is off this weekend, in terms of winning percentage. UA fell to 21-19 overall and 4-7 in the league.

"We had good at-bats and out-hit them each game, which we needed to do against their pitchers who have one of the lowest ERA's in the SEC," Coach Karen Johns said. "We moved our runners well, but we still can't finish it off and score like we need to. Defensively, we played well, and Jackie Marchetta really had some nice plays at short."

Shortstop Jackie Marchetta (Boyton Beach, Fla./Santaluces) also hit a one-out double in the top of the seventh to give UF its first win against the Lady'Backs in the past five meetings. Left fielder Mylin Prieto (Cooper City, Fla./St. Thomas Aquinas), who led off with a single to start the rally, and right fielder Katy Berger (Carmel, Ind./Carmel), who reached on a base hit, came in on Marchetta's hit.

UA scored early in the third after two UF errors put center fielder Andy Wharton on third. A ground out to shortstop sent her home unearned. Senior Renise Landry (West Monroe, La./West Monroe) held the Lady'Backs scoreless the remainder of the way, even fighting off a two-out situation with runners at first and second in the last frame. Landry (13-7) allowed just two hits, walked four and struck out three batters.

UF's offense combined for seven hits off of junior Rachel Talley who went six and one-thirds innings. Talley (6-10) walked and struck out two. Katy Berger led, going 2-for-3 with a run.

Catcher Emily Marino (Joliet, Ill./Joliet) scored UF's sole run in its first at-bat. She reached with a one-out single and advanced to third on a Bree Berger (Carmel, Ill./Carmel) double to right field. Third baseman Jenn Mossadeghi (Jupiter, Fla./Jupiter) scored Marino with a sacrifice fly to center field.

Freshman Amanda Moore (Tuscaloosa, Ala./Hillcrest) threw a five-hitter for her fourth shutout. Moore (11-5) fanned five in seven innings. UA's Orange Park, Fla., native allowed eight hits, one run and had five strikeouts.

The series-closer is Sunday at 1 p.m. Eastern.
