Gator Softball travels to Orlando on Wednesday to face UCF.

GAME NOTES

 

Ranked No. 4 in the NFCA/USA Today and ESPN.com / USA Softball polls, the University of Florida softball team will travel to Orlando on Wednesday (March 26) to face Sunshine State rival Central Florida at 6 p.m. (all times ET). The contest was added to the schedule to partially make up for a pair of rainouts on Feb. 23. Live video of the game will be available through UCF’s Website. Radio coverage will be available on ESPN 850, with live stats accessible via Gametracker on the GatorZone.com schedule page.

 

Gator Bites—Quick Notables

Florida is 30-4 (5-4 SEC), while UCF has a 24-10 record (3-0 American)…The Gators are ranked No. 3 in the first RPI of the season, which was released Monday by the NCAA…The Orange and Blue are tied with in-state rival FSU for the most wins in the country with 30…Florida is undefeated in 25 games this season against nonconference opponents…Senior Hannah Rogers (Lake Wales, Fla.) was announced on Feb. 20 as one of 30 softball finalists for the 2014 Senior CLASS Award, which will be presented at the Women’s College World Series.

 

Looking Back: Alabama & Central Connecticut State

Saturday’s 7-1 victory over Alabama increased Florida’s record following a loss to 4-0; the combined score in those games is 33-7…Every Florida starter had at least one hit in Tuesday's win over CCSU…The Gators used four pitchers (Rogers, Delanie Gourley, Lauren Haeger and Alyssa Bache) on Tuesday, marking the first time this year that UF has used four players in the circle in a game…Kelsey Stewart (Wichita, Kan.) had hits on Tuesday, Saturday and Sunday, and walked on Friday…The sophomore has reached base in all 34 games this season, and is three games shy of the all-time UF record for the longest reached-base streak within a single season (37 games, Michelle Moultrie, 2011).

 

Next Up

After Wednesday’s game, the Gators will travel to Knoxville, Tenn., for three games against No. 2/3 Tennessee. Live video will be available on Friday (6 p.m. ET) through UT’s website, and ESPN 850 will have radio coverage. The games on Saturday and Sunday (both 1 p.m.) will air on CSS and WGGG (1230-AM).
