The Gators kicked off the spring 2014 schedule March 21 at FSU

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- The University of Florida volleyball team opened the 2014 spring schedule Friday afternoon in Tallahassee with a familiar foe in Florida State. The Gators and Noles played five friendly sets of volleyball, which kicked off a four-match spring schedule for the Orange and Blue as UF preps for the 2014 fall campaign.

Wise’s Words

"The sets played against FSU provided the perfect learning opportunity – especially for our young players. Alex Holston continues to have a great spring and was our top point scorer. Although we won only one of the five sets, there is plenty to be encouraged with this early in spring. The goal is to keep improving and end this training phase in a good place entering the fall season."

The Gators have an advantage with freshman setter Abby Detering on campus this spring for some early preparation and experience, while the squad returns 12 players from last season’s NCAA Tournament team. Throughout the spring and into the summer, UF will look to fill the void left by departing All-Americans Chloe Mann and Taylor Brauneis, UF’s two 2013-14 seniors.
