Sunday March 16, 2014Gators Slip in Final Round of Chris Schenkel Invitational

Statesboro, GA

Falling victim to poor play, the Gators slipped another spot in round three of the Chris Schenkel Invitational to finish the tournament in 13th place with a final team score of 890.

Tournament host Georgia Southern took the crown, completing play an impressive 14-under (850). The Eagles were just one of three teams (No. 7 UCF and No. 13 UAB) to finish the Schenkel under-par.

Junior Eric Banks fired another 71 this afternoon, to take a shared spot for 20th with a final score of 217, matching his second-best performance of the season.

Finishing the tournament just inside the top-50 was junior J.D. Tomlinson who ended play with a final score of 223 and freshman Ryan Orr snuck in a shared spot for 53rd after shooting a 224.

Buddy’s Bite: “Probably the low point in the season as far as I am concerned. The biggest disappointment from my standpoint has been our inability to learn and improve. This team has an uncanny ability to hit the ball into the worst place possible, in spite of our strategy to the contrary prior to the round or the shot. I don't know if they can't hear, don't listen, or simply can't help it.”
