UF’s Alexandra Cercone and Brianna Morgan captured the inaugural win, 8-4, on court three and after the Gamecocks won on court one, the deciding doubles point came down to court two, where Olivia Janowicz and Kourtney Keegan captured the 8-6 victory and gave Florida the early 1-0 lead in the team scoring.

On the singles court, the Gators received straight-set wins from Cercone, 6-4, 6-0, Sofie Oyen, 7-5, 6-2, and Morgan, 6-2, 6-4, to complete the sweep. The remaining singles matches were abandoned once the dual match outcome had been secured.

Quotes from the Court:

UF Head Coach Roland Thornqvist:

“It was outstanding doubles today against one of the better doubles teams in our league. We were steady in singles. We made it physical and we’re tough to beat when we’re able to play our style. South Carolina is a very good team and they are going to win a lot of matches in the league this year.”
