Last Friday at Alabama:

Florida finished the month of February last Friday with a 197.675-197.40 loss at No. 4 Alabama in front of a Coleman Coliseum crowd of 12,301. Competition was tied after each of the opening three rotations but the Gators had uncharacteristic trouble on the beam which kept them from keeping pace with the Tides’ floor scoring. The lead-off Gator had a miss and wobbles and balance checks kept the Gators’ beam total back to their second-lowest of the season at 49.15. Sophomore Bridget Sloan collected her seventh consecutive all-around win (39.50). She also equaled her collegiate vault best of 9.95 for the fourth time this season to win that title and shared the uneven bars win at 9.925. Freshman Claire Boyce and senior Mackenzie Caquatto were among a three-way tie for first on balance beam at 9.925. For Boyce, it was her first event win as a Gator and Mackenzie Caquatto picked up her third beam win of 2014 and ninth as a collegiate.

Boyce receives SEC honors:

After her first collegiate event win last Friday, Boyce picked up her first SEC Freshman of the Week honor. It was the second consecutive meet Boyce turned in a collegiate beam best, as she posted a 9.90 versus LSU and upped that mark to a 9.925 to share the event win at Alabama. Boyce currently shares the No. T11 position in the national beam rankings and is the only freshman among the top 12 beam performers. A Gator has been named to one of the three SEC weekly honors seven of the eight weeks of 2014 campaign.

About the Mountaineers:

West Virginia posted its season-best of 196.175 Sunday afternoon in its win over Ohio State (194.95). Hope Sloanhoffer won the all-around at 39.30, just off her season-best total of 39.35 set Jan. 26 versus North Carolina State. Sloanhoffer also shared the vault win (9.875). Teammates Alexa Goldberg took the uneven bars win (9.90) and Mackenzie Myers was the floor winner (9.925).

National Rank:

Florida – Florida is No. 2 in the Feb. 3 GymInfo rankings. The current rankings are based on regional qualifying score (RQS consists of a team's three highest road scores and the next three highest scores. The high score is subtracted from the six event total and the remaining amount is divided by five).

West Virginia – The Mountaineers are No. 36 in the GymInfo rankings.

Tape-delay broadcast:

The Florida-West Virginia meet airs tape-delayed several times on SUN Sports, with the first airing set for March 16 at 11 a.m.

Gator All-American Melissa Miller Schubeck and Larry Vettel will call the action for SUN.
