Gainesville, Fla.

Seniors Jaterra Bonds and Lily Svete will be honored in a postgame ceremony

Florida plays host to No. 17/16 Texas A&M on Sunday at 1 p.m. in the final regular-season game for both teams.

The Gator seniors Jaterra Bonds (Gainesville, Fla.) & Lily Svete (Granger, Ind.) will be honored in a postgame ceremony.

Seedings on the Line

·         Only two of the 14 of seedings for the SEC Tournament (March 5-9) have been solidified entering the final day of the regular season - South Carolina is No. 1 and Ole Miss is No. 14.

In the SEC Standings

·         Entering Sunday’s full slate of SEC action, Florida sits in fifth place with an 8-7 league record.

·         Depending on the outcome of Sunday’s games, the Gators can be seeded as high as No. 4 or as low as No. 8.

·         Three teams are one game behind Florida in the standings with a 7-8 record: Vanderbilt (UF defeated), LSU (UF lost to) and Auburn (UF defeated).

·         Kentucky sits at 9-6 and plays host to Vanderbilt in its final game.

No. 4 Seed on the line for Gators

·         A Gator win against Texas A&M AND a Kentucky loss to Vanderbilt on Sunday would make Florida the No. 4 seed in the SEC Tournament.

Other Possible Seeding Scenarios

·         If the Gators fall to Texas A&M ... their seeding would depend on the outcome of three other games:

·         Vanderbilt at Kentucky ... LSU at Alabama ... Auburn at Ole Miss

Throw-Back Sunday

·         It’s the 20-year Anniversary of when Texas A&M should have played the Gators in the O’Connell Center in the first ever meeting between the two programs.

·         Florida earned the No. 4 seed in the NCAA Tournament and would have hosted the opening round of the event, however, a Rod Stewart concert in the O’Connell Center prevented the Gators from hosting and the contest was played on March 16, 1994 in College Station as a result.

·         The Aggies won that game 78-76.

·         It was the final collegiate game for then-senior and current UF head coach Amanda Butler.

Last Time Out

·         Jaterra Bonds scored 18 points and tied a career-high nine assists and Florida earned a crucial 73-68 victory against Vanderbilt at Memorial Gym on Thursday evening.

·         The win snapped a three-game skid.

·         The Gators led by as many as 17 points early, but Vanderbilt used its prowess from the three-point arc and the free throw line to cut its deficit to three points four times in the second half and as late as with 44.9 seconds and seven seconds remaining.

·         Florida stepped up at the free throw line itself and knocked down big field goals to maintain its lead for all except the first 1:12 of the game.

·         In the final 61 seconds of the game, the Gators converted 9-of-12 from the line, with Carlie Needles coolly icing the game with 4.8 seconds remaining as she hit a pair and gave Florida its final margin of victory.

·         Cassie Peoples scored all of her seven points in the final 3:57 of the game, first getting on the board with a three-pointer at the 3:57 mark after Vanderbilt was within three points. She then knocked down a 15-footer with 1:45 to and the Commodores within five. Her final points game from the line with 41.9 seconds remaining and again Vanderbilt within three points.

·         Ronni Williams finished with 11 points, six rebounds and five blocked shots, while Kayla Lewis and January Miller both scored 10 points in the win.

·         All eight Gators who played, scored, as Needles finished with seven points, Lily Svete with six points and five rebounds and Antoinette Bannister added five points.

Home-Sweet-O’Dome

·         Florida is 12-3 at home this season, including 5-2 in SEC play.

Texas A&M on the Road

·         Texas A&M sports an impressive 8-2 road record this year, including a 6-1 mark in SEC games.

·         The Aggies are making their first ever appearance in the O’Connell Center.

Aggie Quick Scout

·         14 different Aggies have played at least four games this year, with seven averaging double-figure minutes.

·         Individually, Courtney Walker (15.7 ppg) and Courtney Williams (15.3 ppg) are among the SEC leaders in league games for scoring, while Jordan Jones dishes a league-best 7.0 assists per game.

What They Do Well

·         Texas A&M ranks among the SEC’s top three teams in league games for defense, scoring margin, field goal percentage, three-point defense, offensive rebounding, rebounding margin, blocked shots and assist/turnover ratio... whew!

Series at a Glance

·         Texas A&M has won both games in the series against the Gators, including last year’s 78-71 decisions in College Station during the Aggies’ inaugural season in the SEC.

Thrillers!

·         15 of UF’s games have been decided by 10 points or less (9-6 record in those games).

·         10 of the Gator’s SEC games have been decided by 10 points or less (6-4 in those games).

Team Trends

·         Only nine times this year has Florida’s opponent attempted more free throws - the Gators average 23.3 attempts per game compared with 20.0 attempts by opponents.

·         Florida has forced at least 17 turnovers in all except 7 games year this (Gators 2-5 when forcing fewer than 17 - wins vs. Alabama, Jan. 30 and at Vanderbilt Feb. 27).

·         UF is 14-2 when leading at halftime (losses were at home vs. Georgia & Missouri)

·         Despite playing just eight players per game, UF’s bench has outscored its opponent’s bench 17 times (13-4 record in those games).

Gator Watch

·         Three eligible Gators average a double-figure scoring effort: Jaterra Bonds (15.7 ppg), Kayla Lewis (11.4 ppg) and January Miller (10.1 ppg).

·         Kayla Lewis has been the top Gator on the boards, pulling down 8.8 per game, followed by Ronni Williams’ 5.7 per game mark.

·         Bonds is dishing 4.4 assists per game, with Peoples handing out 3.6.

·         Four different Gators have recorded at least 36 steals en route to the team’s 9.7 per game average (fourth in SEC), with Peoples collecting 50, Bonds 41, Lewis 38 and Miller 36.

Bonds, Jaterra Bonds

·         Senior Jaterra Bonds is doing it all in her final collegiate season. She leads the Gators in:

·         Scoring (15.7 ppg),

·         Assists (4.4 apg),

·         Made free throws (150) and

·         Free throw attempts (183),

·         While hitting 45.0 percent of her shots from the floor, 82.0 percent from the free throw line and collecting 1.5 steals.
