Katie Seashole Pressly Softball Stadium will serve as the venue for all 13 games of the Lipton Invitational.

TOURNAMENT NOTES

 

The No. 1 Gator Softball team will host the 2014 University of Florida Lipton Invitational Friday thru Sunday (Feb. 21-23). The first day will see the Gators in action against Troy (4 p.m.) and Indiana (6:15 p.m.). Saturday again pits UF against the Trojans (noon) and Hoosiers (2:15 p.m.). On Sunday, the Gators will face Coastal Carolina (noon) and Georgia Southern (2:15 p.m.). The full tournament will consist of 13 games, with five on each of the first two days and three on Sunday.

 

All Gators games during the tournament can be heard live on WGGG (1230 AM), and fans can follow the game with live stats on Gametracker, which is available on the team’s schedule page. Live stats also will be available for the seven non-UF games during the tournament.

 

Gator Bites—Quick Notables

The Orange and Blue are off to a 12-0 start as the season enters the third weekend…The Gators hold the No. 1 ranking in both the ESPN.com / USA Softball poll and the USA Today/NFCA poll.…Senior Hannah Rogers (Lake Wales, Fla.) became the second Gator hurler (Stacey Nelson – 136) to reach the 100-win mark with her victory over Hawaii last Friday…Rogers was announced on Thursday as one of 30 softball finalists for the 2014 Senior CLASS Award, which will be presented at the Women’s College World Series.

 

Looking Back at Wednesday

Florida defeated Jacksonville University 6-0 on Wednesday in the Gators’ 2014 home opener…Junior Lauren Haeger threw a four-hit shutout to earn her fourth straight win…Haeger joins Rogers and Delanie Gourley to give the Orange and Blue three pitchers with four wins on the year.

 

Looking Back at Last Week

The Gators went 5-0 at the Easton Desert Classic in Las Vegas, defeating Seattle University, Hawaii, Ohio State, Cal State Northridge and No. 24/22 Minnesota…Florida earned mercy-rule victories over the Rainbow Wahine, Buckeyes and Gophers…Haeger batted .533 (8x15) with four home runs, eight RBI, one double, seven runs scored and a stolen base during the tournament to garner SEC Player of the Week honors…The award is the second straight conference weekly accolade for the Peoria, Ariz., native, who was named SEC Pitcher of the Week after Week 1…Haeger also contributed in the circle, pitching a complete game against Seattle.  

 

Up Next

Following the Lipton Invitational, the Gators will travel to Orlando next weekend for the 2014 Diamond 9 Citrus Classic…In Orlando, Florida will face No. 6/8 Oregon, Fordham, Ohio State, Maryland and Radford. Friday’s game against the Ducks will be telecast live on ESPN.
