Monday February 17, 2014Shannon Gilroy Named ALC Offensive Player of the Week
Junior midfielder Shannon Gilroy has been named the American Lacrosse Conference Offensive Player of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday.
Gilroy led the Gators in wins over Jacksonville (21-5) and High Point (18-7) last week with 15 goals and 16 draw controls. Against High Point, she set or tied three program records with 10 draw controls, eight goals and 13 shots. Against Jacksonville, Gilroy scored 7 goals off eight shots for an 87.5 shooting percentage. Combined, she went 5-for-5 on free position goals and added three ground balls and a caused turnover.
Gilroy and the Gators will return to action on Thursday, Feb. 20 at 6:30 p.m. when they host James Madison to continue a four-game home stand at Donald R. Dizney Stadium.
