Florida opened its spring season witha 5-1win over Tampa Saturday.

Florida opened its spring season Saturday evening with a 5-1 win over Tampa at the James G. Pressly Stadium.

The first goal came off the foot of Savannah Jordan. She put in the deep cross from Tessa Andujar from eight yards in the 17th minute. In the 22nd minute, Claire Falknor sent a 40-yard free kick into the box which Lindsey Cooper headed in for the Gators’ second goal. Florida’s final goal of the opening half came off a 15-yard shot to the upper far corner by Katie Richmond.

Jordan and Andujar connected again in the 56th minute, with Jordan heading the ball in from five yards off the deep cross. The Spartans scored in the 59th minute when Cici Gonzalez chipped in a ball from 40-yards with the UF goalkeeper off her line. Jordan completed her hat-trick with an unassisted eight-yard goal in the 87th minute.

Next up, Florida will face the United States Under-20 National Team on Feb. 26. Match time is set for 7 p.m. at the Premier Sports Campus in Lakewood Ranch, Fla.
