Last Friday at Kentucky:

Florida returns home after opening February action with a win at Kentucky on Feb. 7. The Gators turned in a 197.175-195.45 win over the Wildcats. Sophomore Bridget Sloan, the defending NCAA balance beam champion, earned a 10.0 on that event, joining Kristen Stucky (2004) as the only two Gators to earn the perfect mark on beam. Sloan, who earned a 10.0 for her floor exercise routine on Jan. 24, is the first Gator to post 10.0 marks in multiple events. She won her fourth consecutive all-around title at 39.675. She also used a 9.90 to share the uneven bars title with senior Mackenzie Caquatto. Junior Kytra Hunter used 9.925s to win both vault and floor exercise. She has won floor in each of Florida’s five meets this season and the vault win was her second consecutive.

Sloan picks up SEC Gymnasts of the Week:

A perfect 10.0 balance beam mark and the nation’s top total of the weekend for her fourth consecutive all-around win gave sophomore Bridget Sloan (Pittsboro, Ind.) her fourth straight Southeastern Conference Gymnast of the Week honor on Tuesday.

Sloan’s winning total of 39.675 topped the nation’s all-around competitors last weekend. Each of her four winning all-around marks this season rank as the nation’s top three totals of 2014 (39.75/Jan. 31; 39.70/Jan. 17 & 24; 39.675/Feb. 7).

That all-around total included a 10.0 balance beam mark, joining Kristen Stucky as the only two Gators to earn a perfect mark on the event. It was her second 10.0 of the season, as she turned in the mark for her Jan. 24 floor exercise performance versus Georgia. Sloan is the first Gator to earn a 10.0 in multiple events. She is also the season’s first among the nation’s four gymnasts who have earned 2014 10.0 marks to post the mark in multiple events.

Sloan also shared Friday’s uneven bars title at 9.90 with senior teammate Mackenzie Caquatto. The three event titles upped her season total to team-high 14 event titles (four all-around, three vault, bars, two beam, floor).

Gator 10.0s

Florida now has four 10.0 marks in 2014 – Sloan on floor exercise and balance beam and Hunter twice on floor. Four perfect marks is the most for the Gators in a single season, with the previous high of three coming in 1998, all off Susan Hines’ vault marks, and 1996 with a 10.0 vault by Hines and 10.0 uneven bar routines by Kristen Guise and Amy Myerson. Sloan is the only gymnast to earn a 10.0 in multiple events this season. So far in 2014, six 10.0 marks have been turned in across the nation.

The Razorbacks at the midway point:

Arkansas comes into Friday’s meet after posting its season-best of 196.275 in its Feb. 7 home loss to No. 3 LSU (197.225). Senior All-American Katherine Grable took her fifth consecutive all-around title with a season-best total of 39.625 versus the Tigers. Grable is currently ranked No. 2 nationally in the all-around behind Florida’s Sloan. She has also won the floor title in each of Arkansas’ five meets this season.

The Razorbacks were one of the five SEC teams to advance to 2013 NCAA Championships action in Los Angeles, where they took 10th overall.

National Rank:

Florida – Florida is No. 1 in the Feb. 10 GymInfo rankings. The current rankings are based on total season average.

Arkansas – The Razorbacks are No. 11 in the GymInfo rankings.

Six SEC teams rank in the current top 12 – No. 1 Florida, No. 3 LSU, No. 5 Alabama, No. 6 Georgia, No. 11 Arkansas and No. 12 Auburn.

Tape-delay broadcast:

Florida-Arkansas meet airs tape-delayed on SUN Sports (Gainesville/Ocala Cox cable channel 48 or 1048) on Feb. 22 at 5 p.m., Feb. 23 at 8:30 a.m., Feb. 24 at 11 a.m. and again Feb. 27 at 9:30 a.m.
