Tuesday February 11, 2014Schober Places in the Top-3 as Florida Women's Golf Takes 14th at Northrop Grumman Regional

Palos Verdes, Calif.

Junior transfer Sarah Schober shot three solid rounds at Palos Verdes and finished the 2014 Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge at a stellar two-over (72-68-75-215), T3 individually, as the Florida women’s golf team placed 14th.

Senior Elcin Ulu led the Gators’ five in the final round, carding a 76. Ulu shot a final 20-over (233) for the tournament, a notable four-stroke improvement from her 2013 trip to Palos Verdes.

Starting off day three making birdies at No. 10 and No. 13, junior Camilla Hedberg then penciled in two double bogeys at the next holes to finish the day at six-over (77). Both Hedberg and freshman Maria Torres, who stayed consistent throughout the event (72-77-77), completed Northrop Grumman with a score of 226 (+13).

Rolling off her first three birdies of the competition in round three, freshman Karolina Vlckova rounded out the Gator lineup at a total 27-over (240).

No. 1 USC proved true to their top rank and took home the victory with a final score of 866 (+14), a noteworthy seven strokes ahead of second-place finisher No. 3 Duke.

Head Coach Emily Glaser Says: “It was a disappointing day. I stand by my sentiment that this is a talented team, but we have a lot of work to do if we want to be competitive week-in and week-out. This event exposed some areas where we are lacking. But, if we can use this experience for the good, we will be a much tougher team down the road.”
