Sunday February 2, 2014Percy Harvin Leads Seattle Seahawks to Super Bowl XLVIII Victory

Former Gators wide receiver Percy Harvin led the Seattle Seahawks to a dominating 43-8 win over the Denver Broncos to take home the Super Bowl XLVIII victory.


After playing just one game in the regular season, Harvin recorded 137 total yards, including an 87-yard kickoff return, just the 10th kickoff return for a touchdown in Super Bowl history (Watch Here).


Harvin’s six points gives UF a total of 68 points scored all-time in Super Bowls, which ranks third among all schools and tops the SEC.


Joining Dallas Baker, Jeff Mitchell, Justin Trattou and Deonte Thompson, Harvin is the fifth player in Gators history to win an SEC Championship, a national title and Super Bowl ring.

Former Gators in Super Bowl XLVIII

·         Percy Harvin, Seattle – Led Seattle in rushing with 45 yards on two carries and totaled 137 yards in the win over Denver.

·         Andre Caldwell, Denver – Saw action at wide receiver but did not record a stat.

·         Jeremy Mincey, Denver – Totaled four tackles against the Seahawks.

·         Lerentee McCray (Injured Reserve), Denver


The Gators have now been a part of the last 12-consecutive Super Bowls and a total of 17 Super Bowl-winning teams, including the last three. UF has had 41 players and 55 appearances in the Super Bowl.


Dan Quinn, former Florida defensive coordinator, also represented the Orange and Blue playing a key role as the defensive coordinator for the Super Bowl XLVIII champion Seahawks. Marquand Manuel, former Gator who played in Super Bowl XXXIX in 2005 for Seattle, is also on the Seahawks’ defensive staff.
