·         One bright spot was UF’s rebounding effort, where the Gators lost the battle, 38-37, to the nation’s third-ranked rebounding team in the country, as Tennessee entered the game with a +13.9 advantage.

Just One Time

·         Sunday’s game will be the lone regular-season meeting this year between the Gators and Tigers.

Preseason Chatter

·         The SEC coaches and members of the media both selected Florida to finish 10th in the league standings in their respective preseason polls.

·         Auburn was picked to finish eighth by the league by the coaches and the media.

Quotes from the Court:

“Auburn is very good and a very hungry team. They have had a lot of close, disappointing losses to some of the best teams in the league. They are team that is very encouraged by that. They are playing very confidently. Their new players are giving them a ton, in particular Brandy Montgomery, who is a Florida kid and had a fantastic game against LSU. They are on the verge of going on a run in the league. They are very capable of that. We’re definitely going to have to play really, really good basketball. We have to play like this is the most important game of our season.” – UF head coach Amanda Butler on Auburn

“They aren’t just long, but they are tall. They have good size for players they can put in at the two spot and the three spot. They have versatile players who can play the three or the four spot and that’s going to be a challenge for us, but it’s nothing new for us. It’s something we have to focus on with how we have to play as a smaller team to make that an advantage and not letting the height be the dictating element for what’s going to happen. We have a lot to build on with handling height, the way we rebounded against Tennessee.” – Butler on Auburn’s height advantage
