After her national-leading all-around total of 39.7 at Auburn, Bridget Sloan picked up the SEC Gymnast of the Week award

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – University of Florida sophomore All-American Bridget Sloan (Pittsboro, Ind.) is the Southeastern Conference Gymnast of the Week honor, the league office announced Tuesday. Georgia’s Chelsea Davis is the SEC Specialist of the Week and her teammate Kiera Brown is the SEC Freshman of the Week.

This is the second such honor for Sloan as she received the SEC Gymnast of the Week once as a freshman in 2013. Sloan picked up the SEC Freshman of the Year honor in 2013. She won both the 2013 NCAA all-around and balance beam titles and was the 2013 Honda Award recipient as the nation’s top collegiate gymnast.

Sloan won at least a share of four event titles last Friday at then-No. 18 Auburn as the Gators opened league action with a 197.075-196.225 win. Florida’s final tally at Auburn is the nation’s top road total of 2014.

Sloan’s 39.70 to claim her seventh all-around title as a Gator is the nation’s high total of this young season. A Gator has turned in an all-around total of 39.70 or better now 15 times – and Sloan has one third of those totals.

She equaled her collegiate vault best of 9.95 to share that event title and earned a 9.90 to also share the floor win. Sloan claimed her seventh collegiate uneven bars title with her season-best mark of 9.925.

The four event wins in a single dual meet is a high for Sloan. She now owns 26 event titles as a Gator.

In the second national rankings of the season, Sloan is tied for first on vault (9.938), No. T-4 on bars (9.90), No. 12 in all-around (39.287) and No. T-23 in floor (9.875).

Next up, the No. 3 Gators make their first home appearance as defending NCAA champions when they play host to No. 6 Georgia (2-2, 1-0 SEC) on Friday, Jan. 24. Meet time is set for 7 p.m. in the Stephen C. O’Connell Center.

Season tickets are still available for the low price $25. Find more information at the Gator Ticket Office link or by calling the Gator Ticket Office at 1-800-34-GATOR from 8:30 a.m. - 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. The first 1,000 fans Friday receive a commemorative 2013 National Championship pint glasses and schedule key tags. The Gators will autograph team posters following Friday’s meet.

The Florida-Georgia dual will air tape-delayed on CST (Gainesville/Ocala channel 259 on Cox Cable) on a date and time to be announced.
