Monday December 30, 2013Twelve Former Gators Advance to the NFL Playoffs

Gainesville, Fla.

Twenty-two former Gators saw action in the final week of the NFL regular season. Of those 22, 13 started for their respective teams.

 

Twelve players will advance to the NFL playoffs, but only nine are healthy to compete.

Andre Caldwell, Denver Broncos

Lerentee McCray (Injured Reserve), Denver Broncos

Jeremy Mincey, Denver Broncos

Brandon Spikes, New England Patriots

Xavier Nixon, Indianapolis Colts

Chris Rainey (Injured Reserve), Indianapolis Colts

Carlos Dunlap, Cincinnati Bengals

Reggie Nelson, Cincinnati Bengals

Jaye Howard, Kansas City Chiefs

 

NFC

Percy Harvin (Injured), Seattle Seahawks

Riley Cooper, Philadelphia Eagles

Ray McDonald, San Francisco 49ers

 

BALTIMORE RAVENS

Matt Elam – Started at FS and led the Ravens with 10 combined tackles, seven solo, with one TFL.              

Deonte Thompson – Was not active in week 17.

 

CINCINNATI BENGALS

Carlos Dunlap – Started at LDE and had two assists, three QB hits and a pass breakup.

Reggie Nelson – Made the start at FS and made six tackles, five solo, with two pass breakups and one tackle on special teams.

 

CHICAGO BEARS

Major Wright – Started at SS and recorded eight tackles, seven solo, against the Packers.

Jon Bostic – Saw action at LB but did not record a stat.

 

CLEVELAND BROWNS

Joe Haden – Was not active in week 17.

 

DENVER BRONCOS

Andre Caldwell – Started at WR against the Raiders and had three receptions for 42 yards.

Jeremy Mincey – Saw action at DE but did not record a stat.

Lerentee McCray – Injured Reserve.

 

INDIANAPOLIS COLTS

Xavier Nixon – Saw action at offensive tackle against the Jaguars.

Chris Rainey – Injured Reserve.

 

JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS

Josh Evans – Made the start at FS and recorded four tackles, three solo.

 

KANSAS CITY CHIEFS

Jaye Howard – Started at RDE and collected six tackles, five solo.

 

MIAMI DOLPHINS

Mike Pouncey – Started at C.  

Mike Gillislee – Was not active in week 17.

Caleb Sturgis – Saw action against the Jets, but did not have any FG attempts.  

Jelani Jenkins – Saw action at LB and contributed with one assist.

 

MINNESOTA VIKINGS

Sharrif Floyd – Saw action at DT and contributed with two tackles, one solo, with one TFL.

Justin Trattou – Saw action at DE and made one tackle on special teams.

 

NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS

Brandon Spikes – Started at LB and recorded one assist.

 

NEW YORK GIANTS

Will Hill – Started at FS against the Redskins and collected five solo tackles and made one tackle on special teams.

Louis Murphy – Saw action at WR and had one reception for eight yards.

 

NEW YORK JETS

Jermaine Cunningham – Was not active in week 17.

David Nelson – Made the start at TE and led the Jets with five catches for 66 yards.

 

PHILADELPHIA EAGLES

Riley Cooper – Saw action at WR and collected three catches for 39 yards.

 

PITTSBURGH STEELERS

Marcus Gilbert – Made the start at RT.

Maurkice Pouncey – Suffered a season-ending torn ACL and MCL during the Steelers’ opening possession of their season opener.

 

SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS

Ray McDonald – Started at LDT and made three solo tackles.

 

SEATTLE SEAHAWKS

Percy Harvin – Was not active in week 17 due to injury.

 

TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS

Jeff Demps – Was not active in week 17.

 

WASHINGTON REDSKINS

Rex Grossman – Was not active in week 17.

Maurice Hurt – Was not active in week 17.

Jordan Reed – Was not active in week 17.
