Taylor Burke (with gloves) is part of the NSCAA Scholar All-South Region team.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Junior goalkeeper Taylor Burke (Medina, Ohio) is part of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Scholar All-South Region second team, the outlet announced Tuesday.

This is Burke’s second NSCAA accolade of 2013, as earlier this month she was named to the NSCAA All-South Region third team. This past season, Burke earned nine solo shutouts to bring her career total to 23, which is second all-time among Gator goalkeepers. Her 2013 goals-against-average of 0.543 ranked No. 13 among NCAA Division I goalkeepers. It is the lowest season GAA in the program’s 19-year history (previous low of 0.567 – Jordan Kellgren/1999).

Burke is pursuing a degree in communications and owns a 3.50 grade point average.

Her awards aren’t limited to the sport of soccer. Last summer, Burke was named to the 2013 U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) 2013 Division I All-Academic team. During the spring semester, Burke is part of the Gators’ track & field team. She has earned All-America high jump honors the last two seasons and set Florida’s indoor record with her leap of 6-1.25 at the 2013 Virginia Tech Elite Meet. She also won the Southeastern Conference Outdoor high jump title as a freshman in 2012.
