Monday December 2, 2013Prather Named Co-SEC Player of the Week
Florida’s Casey Prather and Mississippi State’s Craig Sword were named co-SEC Players of the Week as announced by the league office this afternoon.
Prather averaged 23 points, 4.5 rebounds and two assists while leading the Gators to victories over Jacksonville and Florida State last week. Impressively, Prather connected on 73.9 percent (17-of-23) of his field goals including an 11-of-13 effort against JU. Prather’s 27 point output against the Dolphins was his third 27+ point game of the season, becoming the third Gator under head coach Billy Donovan to do so (Nick Calathes, 2008-09 and Teddy Dupay, 2000-01 were the others).
On the season, Prather is averaging 19.1 ppg, recording double-digit point totals in every contest. His .640 field goal percentage ranks first in the SEC.
The Gators will take on the Connecticut Huskies tonight at 7 p.m. on ESPN2 and will return home on Dec.10 to face another top-25 ranked opponent, Kansas. For information and tickets, click here.
