WHAT IT MEANS: The win is a win, but if freshman point guard Kasey Hill suffered as serious an injury to his ankle as it appeared, the victory was a costly one. After Hill -- with Scottie Wilbekin still suspended -- the Gators do not have a true point guard.
IN THE SPOTLIGHT: Sophomore guard Devon Walker entered the game having hit just one of his nine shots on the young season. Walker, though, scored a career-high 10 points (4-for-9 from the floor), grabbed three rebounds and took over Hill’s playmaker duties in spots. He is not, however, a true point guard.
STAGGERING STATISTIC: No Gator scored more than 12 points. OK, so that’s not so staggering, but it was that kind of game.
SUBPLOT: UF continued its struggle from the 3-point line, going just 6-for-17, though that was the most in any game this season. Florida is just 19 of 61 for 31.1 percent -- from the arc in four games. Last year, the Gators averaged 8.1 treys per game.
UP NEXT: The Gators (3-1) will host Middle Tennessee State (4-0), an NCAA Tournament team that won 28 games last season, Thursday night at the O’Dome. Tipoff is 7:30.
