The only goal of the match started when junior Lauren Silver sent the ball from a few steps inside the Gator half looking for Savannah Jordan about 10 yards above the Razorback box. The ball deflected high off an Arkansas defender to junior Havana Solaun, located between Jordan and the center line. Solaun headed the ball forward to Jordan above the box. Jordan got a touch and the ball deflected high toward the top of the 18-yard box. Jordan caught up to make a quick chip forward and followed the ball to make the scoring touch past the approaching goalkeeper at 23:02.

Jordan now has 21 goals for the season – the highest total for UF since Abby Wambach scored 31 as a Gator senior.

GATOR PERFORMANCE NOTES:

·         Jordan is second among Gator freshmen goal scorers. Andi Sellers set the Gator freshmen record in 1997 with 23, followed by Jordan (21) and Wambach (19).

·         Solaun ups her team-leading assists total to eight – matching her collegiate-high set in 2012.

·         Florida goalkeeper Taylor Burke, who turned in some key saves Wednesday to preserve the clean sheet, equals her collegiate-high of solo shutouts in a season with her eighth tonight. She also had eight as a freshman in 2011.

RECORDS: Florida (16-3-1, 9-2 SEC); Arkansas (13-8, 5-6 SEC).

THE SERIES: Florida leads the series 18-0 all-time.

QUOTES
On the 1-0 win against Arkansas:

“I think the win tonight was a big one because we knew it was going to be a challenge. We knew Arkansas was going to play a system and a style that was radically different than what we play. I think our team handled that pretty well.” – Florida head coach Becky Burleigh

On her goal:

“It was a little chaotic for me. I was in a big pile with the defenders. I just hit it over the goalkeeper hoping for the best and luckily it went in.” – freshman forward Savannah Jordan

On the team’s lone goal from Savannah Jordan:

“Savannah has some great goal-scoring instincts and tonight was no different. She paid the price for that goal. It was a pretty physical goal and she’s been willing to do that all year.” – Florida head coach Becky Burleigh

Defending against the Razorback on their final good look:

“At the end, it was madness in the six. I don’t know – I think it was Christen (Westphal), Karina (Gutsche) and I all just trying to be as big as we could. I know Christen got a thigh on a shot, I know I got a foot on something and the ball ended up hitting the post and going out. They were definitely close at the end.” – junior goalkeeper Taylor Burke

On facing Arkansas, a team having one of its best seasons in program history:

“It’s just such a different style. We knew it wasn’t going to be easy, and it wasn’t, and proud we got the shutout because that is a team that is hard to shutout. They rely a lot on set pieces, long throw-ins, stuff like that. That is something we’ve put a lot of time and effort into getting better. I think some of that credit goes to our volunteer assistant coach Jason Hamilton who has put a lot of emphasis on that for our team.” – Florida head coach Becky Burleigh

Preparing for Friday’s semifinal:

“I think the big thing is we just got to get our bodies ready and recover from this physical game tonight. We will do that tomorrow and by then we will know who our opponent is so we can start talking specifics.” – Florida head coach Becky Burleigh

On playing Arkansas:

“We knew this team was going to be physical and just a tough match-up. We prepared for that and I think toward the end of the game it started getting more physical because of the score and time running down. I think we handled it well in holding the ball in the end.” – freshman forward Savannah Jordan
