After a three-goal weekend, Savannah Jordan is the SEC pick for Offensive Player of the Week.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – A three-goal weekend earned Florida freshman Savannah Jordan (Fayetteville, Ga.) the Southeastern Conference Offensive Soccer Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday morning. Jordan has twice received the SEC Freshman of the Week honor (Aug. 26 and Sept. 23). She also is the College Sports Madness National Player of the Week.

SEC Players of the Week – 10/28/13

Offensive –  Savannah Jordan, Florida

Defensive – McKenzie Sauerwein, Missouri

Freshman – Casie Ramsier, Auburn

Jordan scored Florida’s final goal at Tennessee on Friday when she hit an eight-yard shot off the assist from Taylor Travis. She provided both goals in Florida’s 2-0 win over Texas A&M to move Florida into a tie for first in the league standings with a match to go. Her first came off the leading pass from Meggie Dougherty Howard. Jordan’s left-footed shot was deflected, but she followed its path in the box to put in the loose ball. Her second goal came after a long run by Christen Westphal from the Gator defensive third to the top of the Aggie defensive third. Jordan ran onto her pass and her 14-yard shot scored at the far post.

The three goals raise her season total to 18 – the Gators’ top season total since Abby Wambach turned in 31 as a senior in 2001. Her 18 goals are third all-time among Gator freshmen. Andi Sellers leads with 23 goals in 1997 season, followed by Wambach (19 in 1998), Jordan (18) and Melissa Pini (11 in 1995).

She leads the SEC in goals and is tied for third among NCAA Division I goal scorers.

With junior teammate Havana Solaun scoring twice Friday at Tennessee, Florida’s total of multi-goal matches in 2013 is now at nine. Lauren Smith has one, Solaun has two and Jordan has six. Five of the Gators’ multi-goal matches have come in SEC play (Smith - Kentucky, Solaun – Tennessee, Jordan – Alabama, LSU and Texas A&M).

The Gators head to Athens, Ga., to face Georgia (12-5-1, 5-4-1 SEC) for the regular season finale on Thursday, Oct. 31. Match time is set for 6:30 p.m. ET at the UGA Soccer Stadium/Turner Soccer Complex. Georgia has won three of its last four matches, including both on the road last weekend (2-1 at LSU and 1-0 at Arkansas). The Bulldogs currently stand tied for sixth in the SEC standings.
