Solaun scored her second goal of the evening when the corner kick she took from the left side in the 66th minute went untouched into the goal. It was her second double-goal match of the season.

Florida scored its final goal of the match when senior Taylor Travis sent a diagonal ball from the end line to Savannah Jordan. Jordan scored from eight yards for her 16th goal of the season.

QUOTES
The Gators scored all their goals in the second half to take the win and gain three points toward league standings:

“I think for us we know that our style of play sometimes wears opponents down so we’ll take the goals whenever they come. We are just one step closer and that’s how we look at it.” – Florida coach Becky Burleigh

Havana Solaun’s penalty kick turned out to be the game-winner. What are the pressures on a penalty kick shooter?

“For her to step up and take the penalty, that’s a hard thing to do in a 0-0 game that has a lot of meaning. I’m really proud of her courage to do that. We don’t dictate who takes the penalty kicks so when a person steps up, I know they have the confidence that they can make it.” – Florida coach Becky Burleigh

What did you see on the Gators’ final goal?

“That was a really nice goal. It was a great ball in from Taylor Travis and Savannah (Jordan) kind of pulled out from the goal. That movement created some space between her and her defender so it was a well-executed goal.” – Florida coach Becky Burleigh

What happened on your second goal?

“It was my second corner from that end and the first one I kind of hit too long. I was trying to get it back post to Liz (Slattery), actually, because we had made eye contact. But then it just spun in. It was my first goal off a corner kick.” – junior co-captain Havana Solaun

What happened on your goal?

“It was a great counter attack. I think Havana played the ball out to Taylor Travis and she made a great run toward the box. I pulled around from the goal because I felt the defender and Taylor played a great ball across and then I finished.” – freshman Savannah Jordan

What did you think of the Gators’ play tonight?

“I think we did really well. We were persistent in our attack – we kept the ball well and had a lot of good opportunities.” – junior co-captain Havana Solaun

WORTH NOTING
Friday’s win puts Florida in sole possession of second in the SEC standings with 21 points (teams receive three points for a win, one point for a tie)…the SEC leader at 24 points is Texas A&M and the Aggies visit Gainesville on Sunday…this was the third consecutive match a Gator has turned in a pair of goals as sophomore Lauren Smith scored twice versus Kentucky on Oct. 18 and Jordan scored a pair of goals versus LSU on Oct. 20...in 2013, three Gators have turned in a total of eight multi-goal matches (Jordan – 5, Solaun – 2, Lauren Smith 1)…the penalty kick was the second awarded to Florida this season and the first successful attempt…Florida’s last win versus Tennessee in Knoxville was a 5-1 victory on Oct. 15, 1999…Taylor Burke ensured a clean sheet when she dove to her right in the 78th minute to make the save on Megan Erskine’s hard 14-yard shot…the shutout was the 10th of the season for the Gators…tonight was Tennessee’s breast cancer awareness match and the Lady Vols wore pink socks to show their support in the fight against breast cancer…temperature at the start of the match was 48 degrees.
