Seven University of Florida football players were named to Phil Steele’s 2013 Midseason All-SEC team, the publication announced Wednesday. Sophomore defensive lineman Dante Fowler Jr. and freshman defensive back Vernon Hargreaves III were both named to the First Team, redshirt senior offensive lineman Jonotthan Harrison and junior defensive back Loucheiz Purifoy were honored as Second Team selections, and senior wide receiver Solomon Patton, redshirt junior linebacker Michael Taylor and junior defensive back Marcus Roberson were all Third Team honorees.
In SEC play, Fowler has made 17 tackles, including 6.0 TFL and 3.0 sacks, forced two fumbles and made one fumble recovery. Hargreaves has made 13 tackles, broken up five passes and made an interception that robbed Kentucky of a touchdown.
Harrison has anchored an offensive line that has tallied 1379 yards of total offense and averages 5.1 yards per play in SEC action. Purifoy has made nine tackles, including 1.0 sack, forced a fumble and caught a pick-six in just four SEC games.
Patton leads the Gators in receiving with 15 catches for 241 yards and three touchdowns and in all-purpose yards in SEC games. Taylor ranks second for Florida in SEC tackles with 27, including 2.0 TFL, and has recovered two fumbles. Roberson, who was a third team special teams selection, has helped UF special teams to average 24.2 yards per kick return while holding SEC opponents to 16.4 yards per kick return.
