Four members of the University of Florida women’s tennis team will compete in the qualifying singles draw of the Riviera/ITA All-American Championships that gets underway at the Riviera Tennis Center on Tuesday.

Alexandra Cercone (Seminole, Fla.), Olivia Janowicz (Palm Bay, Fla.) Brianna Morgan (Beverly Hills, Calif.) and Belinda Woolcock (Melbourne, Australia) each aim to win three singles matches and secure one of eight spots available for the main draw of the national event considered the first leg of the collegiate grand slam.

Cercone, who is ranked No. 38, is seeded 9-16 and plays No. 63 Catherine Harrison of UCLA at approximately 4:30 p.m. ET, in her first-round match.

Janowicz is ranked No. 75 and faces Tulane’s No. 53 Klara Vyskovilova at 2:45 p.m. ET, while No. 64 Morgan meets San Francisco’s No. 57 Andrea Ka at 2:45 p.m., and Woolcock, who played her way through three rounds of the pre-qualifying draw to earn a place in the qualifying event, takes on Clemson’s No. 34 Beatrice Gumulya at 4:30 p.m. ET

Woolcock begins Tuesday pairing with Gator teammate Sofie Oyen (Leopoldsburg, Belgium) on the doubles court, where the fourth-seeded tandem plays Mississippi State’s No. 48 Alexandra Perper and Naomi Tran at 1 p.m. ET.

The Riviera Tennis Club in Pacific Palisades, Calif., will again serve as the host site for the Riviera/ITA Women's All-American Championships. The national championship, considered the first leg of the collegiate grand slam, began on Saturday, Sept. 28 with pre-qualifying singles and doubles matches, which was hosted by UCLA. Qualifying competition will be held Oct. 1-2 and main draw action is slated for Thursday, Oct. 3-Sunday, Oct. 6 at the Riviera Tennis Club.

The qualifying rounds are comprised of a singles draw of 64 and a doubles draw of 32. Just as with pre-qualifying, a singles player or doubles tandem must win three consecutive matches to stay alive and move into the main draw. Eight spots in the singles main draw are reserved for qualifiers, while the doubles main draw will feature four teams from qualifying.

•     Sofie Oyen received an automatic berth into the singles main draw

•     Alexandra Cercone and Brianna Morgan earned a spot in the singles qualifying draw

•     Olivia Janowicz is No. 1 on the qualifying singles draw alternate list

•     Oyen & Woolcock are No. 4 in the doubles main draw alternate list (will play qualifying if spot not available)

Singles semifinalists, doubles finalists and consolation champions will receive automatic entry into the USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships Nov. 7-10 in Flushing, NY.
