The Gators' 2013 NCAA and SEC team titles were recognized at the Florida-Tennessee football game.

Florida’s 2013 NCAA and Southeastern Conference team titles were honored Saturday during the Florida-Tennessee football game.

In 2013, Florida claimed its first NCAA Championship and the program’s ninth SEC crown.

 

Bridget Sloan, the first in the sport’s history to win World (2009), U.S. (2009) and NCAA (2013) all-around titles, received the 2013 Honda Award at Saturday’s game. Each season, The Collegiate Women Sports Awards program recognizes the top collegiate female student-athlete in 12 sports. Sloan is the second consecutive Gator to receive the award, as Kytra Hunter was named the 2012 recipient.

 

Friday evening, the team received their championship rings at a dinner held in the Gator Room of the Ben Hill Griffin Stadium.

 

Florida opens the 2014 season at the same spot it won the 2013 NCAA title – UCLA’s Pauley Pavilion. The Gators and Bruins open their seasons on Jan. 11 in a meet which will air live on the Pac-12 Network. The Gators’ home opener is Friday, Jan. 24 versus Georgia.
