Two-time Olympic medalist Will Claye wrapped up the Gators’ medal haul Sunday with his second World Championships bronze medal in the men’s triple jump.

The former Gator NCAA Champion jumped 17.52m/57-5.75 on his last jump of the preliminary round but stayed in third throughout the six rounds of jumping.

“It’s always a blessing to be on the podium,” Claye said. “You obviously want to win but I’m thankful to have been a part of such a great competition.”

Claye was one of three Gators to earn a combined four medals over the course of the nine-day meet, which ran from August 10-18 in Moscow. Joining him on the medal stand was 4x4 gold medalists Tony McQuay and Arman Hall (Pembroke Pines, Fla.) and 400-meter silver medalist McQuay.

The Gators earned more medals than any other Southeastern Conference institution and the SEC led the nation in collegiate medal-winners with 14 total medals earned at the 14th IAAF World Championships. Florida tied with Oregon for the second-most medals nationally (four), just behind Southern California with five.

2012 Olympic Champion and 2011 World Champion Christian Taylor finished just outside a podium finish with his fourth-place leap of 17.20m/56-5.25, a mark he turned in on the final jump of the competition.

Former Gator standout Andrea Bliss competed in the semifinals of the women’s 100-meter hurdles, just missing out on the finals of the event with a time of 12.92.

Next up for the Gators is the 2013 Pan Am Junior Championships, held August 23-25 in Medellin, Colombia. Rising sophomores Destinee Gause (Reynoldsburg, Ohio) and Robin Reynolds (Miami, Fla.) are in the relay pool for Team USA and are slated to compete Sunday, August 25. A full schedule of events can be found here.
