Friday August 2, 2013Sebastien Rousseau's Second US Open Meet Record Highlights Strong Gator Performances

Gainesville, Fla.

Redshirt junior Sebastien Rousseau (Cape Town, South Africa) set his second US Open meet record and captured his second victory during the third day of competition at the five-day long course meet in Irvine, Calif. The US Open field is comprised of American and international athletes competing for club teams.

Rousseau dominated the 400-meter individual medley field, touching in first with a University of Florida long course record swim of 4:11.11, which was over 4.5 seconds faster than his nearest competitor. Rousseau headed into the finals as the clear favorite with his time of 4:16.26 in prelims.

Joining Rousseau in the championship final was Gator teammate sophomore Carlos Omana (Miami, Fla.). Omana placed fifth overall with a time of 4:20.73 after dropping significant time from his 4:21.49 prelim swim.

Junior Connor Signorin (East Windsor, N.J.) and freshman Adam Bull (Dallas, Texas) also earned second swims in the 400 IM. Both swimmers threw down lifetime bests, with Signorin placing 10th (4:20.92) and Bull placing 13th (4:22.84).

In the womenís 400 IM, a trio of student-athletes picked up final swims. Freshman Lindsey McKnight (Coral Springs, Fla.) posted her long course career low in the prelims with a mark of 4:52.62. In the finals, McKnight posted a time of 4:55.38 for a 13th overall finish.
