Tuesday July 2, 2013Florida Lacrosse Has 17 Players Named to 2012-13 SEC Spring Academic Honor Roll
Seventeen members of the University of Florida’s women’s lacrosse team were named to the 2012-13 Southeastern Conference Spring Academic Honor Roll, as announced by the league office on Tuesday. The 17 honorees are in addition to the 10 freshmen that were named to the 2012-13 SEC First-Year Academic Honor Roll.
The honorees are: Nora Barry (Marcellus, N.Y.), Ashley Bruns (Ellicott City, Md.), Cara Canington (Bel Air, Md.), Caroline Chesterman (South Nyack,N.Y.), Kitty Cullen (Rockville, Md.), Brittany Dashiell (Bel Air, Md.), Emily Dohony (Parkton, Md.), Sam Farrell (Millersville, Md.), Shannon Gilroy (Northport, N.Y.), Erin Graziano (Mendham, N.J.), Nicole Graziano (Mendham, N.J.), Hayley Katzenberger (Damascus, Md.), Mikki Offit (Bethesda, Md.), Jamie Reeg (Atlantis, Fla.), Colby Rhea (Abingdon, Md.), Kayla Stolins (Glen Arm, Md.) and Gabi Wiegand (Bay Shore, N.Y.).
“I’m very proud of the dedication that the team has shown to academics,” said head coach Mandee O’Leary. “Our team works very hard both on the field and in the classroom, and it’s exciting to see them honored for that commitment to academic excellence.”
To be recognized to the SEC Academic Honor Roll, each student-athlete must 1) have a GPA of 3.00 for either the preceding academic year or have a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or above at the nominating institution; 2) be on scholarship, a letterwinner or have participated on a varsity team for two years if non-scholarship; 3) have completed 24 semester hours of non-remedial credit at the nominating institution; and 4) have been a member of the varsity team for the sport’s entire NCAA Championship segment.
