USA Basketball’s U19 team, coached by Billy Donovan, posted a perfect 3-0 record in the preliminary round at the FIBA World Championships in Prague, Czech Republic. Florida guard Michael Frazier II (Tampa, Fla.) averaged 9.7 points coming off the bench for the USA in all three games.

The American squad was dominant throughout the opening days of the 16-team event, winning its first three games by an average of 61 points. The USA finished first place in Group D, and the top three teams from each of the four preliminary groups advanced into the second group stage.

"They obviously had a hard time with the press, and I thought our athleticism inside, the pace of the game and us turning them over really caused them some problems,” Donovan said following Saturday’s 115-47 win over Russia.

Following an off day on Sunday, the USA will play three more round robin games and attempt to advance into the knockout rounds. The 12 teams that advanced through the preliminary round are split into two six-team groups and will play three additional games, with the top four from each group advancing into the quarterfinals.

The USA looks to continue its strong showing under Donovan after winning gold just once in the previous six world championships at the U19 level (2009).
