Florida’s only four-time AVCA All-American Kelly Murphy (Wilmington, Ill.) has been named to the U.S. Women’s National Volleyball Team roster for the 2013 Pan American Cup, contested June 10-16 in Lima, Peru.

Murphy is one of just two opposites included on the Team USA roster and one of just three making her debut wearing the U.S. jersey at the senior level.

Team USA will look to defend its Pan American Cup title from 2012 and the Red, White and Blue has captured two golds, a silver and two bronze medals in the 12-year history of the Women’s Pan American Cup.

The Pan American Cup consists of 12 teams from NORCECA (North American, Central America and Caribbean Confederation) and CSV (South America Federation). The tournament serves as a qualification tournament into the 2014 FIVB World Grand Prix. The top four teams from NORCECA and the top placing team from CSV other than Brazil will earn tickets to next year’s World Grand Prix.

The U.S. is grouped in Pool A with Argentina, Puerto Rico and Trinidad & Tobago playing at Miguel Grau Coliseum in the suburb of Callao. Team USA opens against Trinidad & Tobago on June 10, followed by Puerto Rico on June 11 and Argentina on Jun 12. All three pool matches are scheduled to start at 6 p.m. PT. Pool B includes Canada, Costa Rica, Cuba and host Peru. Pool C includes Brazil, Colombia, Dominican Republic and Mexico.
