Senior jumper Omar Craddock (Killeen, Texas) has been named the South Region Menís Field Athlete of the Year, the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Association (USTFCCCA) announced Monday.

Craddock advanced as the top seed to the NCAA Championships with a mark of 16.04m/52-7.50 at the NCAA East Preliminary Round. The Texas native was the only athlete at the East Prelims to surpass the 16-meter mark. The senior, who captured the 2012 NCAA title indoors and is the reigning NCAA Champion outdoors, leaped a nation-leading 16.46m/54-0 to defend his SEC Outdoor title in the menís triple jump.

Craddock has won every outdoor meet in his senior campaign, including utilizing a jump of 16.43m/53-11 to clinch the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays title in front of his friends and family. Craddock put up a personal best 16.80m/55-1.50 indoors this year to claim the runner-up spot at the NCAA Indoor Championships in March.

Craddock returns to Hayward Field after his impressive showing at the 2012 U.S. Olympic Trials last summer, finishing just outside the top three with his leap of 16.55m/54-3.75.

Competition at the 2013 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships begins Wednesday, June 5 and extends through Saturday, June 8. The schedule of events can be found here and tickets for the event are already on sale on NCAA.com.

The Gator men are the defending NCAA Outdoor Champions and have placed in the top three at the last four NCAA Outdoor Championships, while the Florida women recorded a third-place finish at the 2010 NCAA Outdoor Championships.

A program-record 28 qualifiers made the trek from Gainesville to Eugene as 14 women, 11 men and three relays will represent the Orange and Blue at historic Hayward Field on the campus of the University of Oregon.
