Wednesday May 29, 2013Gator Softball's Hannah Rogers and Lauren Haeger Tabbed NFCA Division I First Team All-Americans

Louisville, Ky.

On the eve of the start of the 2013 Women’s College World Series in Oklahoma City, Okla., Gator softball players junior Hannah Rogers (Lake Wales, Fla.) and sophomore Lauren Haeger (Peoria, Ariz.) were tabbed NFCA Division I First Team All-Americans, announced by the organization Wednesday.

The honor makes Rogers a three-time All-American, each year of her Gator career, while Haeger picks up All-America honors for the first time after being a NFCA All-Southeast Region First Team selection in both 2012 and 2013. Her freshman year in 2011, Rogers became UF’s second-ever freshman All-American as she graced the All-America Second Team honor roll in both 2011 and 2012.

Haeger’s All-America accolade makes 12 All-Americans and 24 All-America honors under eighth year Gator head coach Tim Walton, who has directed the Florida softball program to its fifth Women’s College World Series in school history. Under Walton, Florida has advanced to the WCWS five of the last six years, including appearances in the championship series in both 2009 and 2011. Walton has tutored at least one All-American seven of his eight years at the helm of the UF program.

Rogers is Florida’s third softball student-athlete to be named at least a three-time All-American during her Gator tenure, joining former Gators Stacey Nelson (2007, 2008, 2009), Francesca Enea (2008, 2009, 2010) and Aja Paculba (2008, 2009, 2011).

Walton, Rogers, Haeger and the Gators will open 2013 Women’s College World Series play Thursday at 2:30 p.m. (ET) against SEC Eastern Division rival Tennessee. The game will be broadcast live on ESPN2, while Gator fans can also follow live stats on Gametracker or tune in to 105 The Game locally and online for all the coverage.
