Gainesville, Fla.

Florida had three swimmers named to the 2013 Men’s and Women’s Capital One At-Large Academic At-Large Teams, the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced on Thursday. Senior Cameron Martin (Clearwater, Fla.), junior Brad deBorde (Longwood, Fla.) and junior Elizabeth Beisel (North Kingstown, R.I) were selected to the District 4 men’s and women’s teams.

The 2013 Capital One Academic All-District® At-Large Teams, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America, have been released to recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. Capital One has been the entitlement rights holder to CoSIDA’s Academic All-America teams programs since 2011.

First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the Capital One Academic All-America® Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.

This is the second straight year that Beisel has been selected to the Capital One At-Large Team. Last season she was named Capital One Women’s At-Large First Team Academic All-American. A telecommunications major, Beisel currently sports a 3.63 GPA.

In the water, Beisel was the 2013 NCAA Champion in the 400 IM and grabbed five All-America honors at the national meet. A month earlier she was won the SEC Championship in the 200 back and 400 IM, the third straight year she has earned the conference title in those events.

On the men’s side, Martin is also receiving his second selection to the district team as he was previously voted as a sophomore in 2011. Martin graduated cum laude earlier this month with a degree in zoology and boasting a GPA of 3.77 during his time at Florida. He has collected numerous post-season honors since finishing out his career as a Gator. Martin was awarded the NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship and was also a finalist for the SEC Brad Davis Community Service Award.

This season Martin helped lead the Orange and Blue to their first SEC team title in 20 years, posting a third place finish in the 200 fly to complete a Gator sweep in the event. Martin then added three more All-America honors to his collection at the national meet.

deBorde is making his first appearance on the All-District team. An industrial engineering major, deBorde has maintained a 3.69 GPA during his first three years with the Gators. He is a two-time SEC Academic Honor Roll selection and a two-time CSCAA Scholar All-American.

At the 2013 NCAA Championships, deBorde earned six All-America honors swimming on all but one of the relays. His six honors was the second most on the team. deBorde also set a new school record in the 50 free at the 2013 SEC Championships with his prelim time of 19.12, besting his previous school record of 19.25. He went on to finish second in the event at the conference meet.
