The University of Florida has received official notification from Eli Carter (Paterson, N.J.) of his intent to transfer to UF and join the men’s basketball team.

“Eli is a great addition to our team, and we’re pleased he’s a Gator now,” head coach Billy Donovan said.

“I’m excited to get down to Florida, and I can’t wait to start gelling with the team and the coaches,” Carter said.

The 6-foot-2, 195-pound Paterson, N.J. native played two years at Rutgers and holds a 14.3 career scoring average in 56 games, including 46 starts. He was the Scarlet Knights’ top scorer in each of the past two seasons with 14.9 points per game as a sophomore in 2012-13 and 13.8 during his freshman campaign in 2011-12. He is a career .398 shooter, including .338 from 3-point range, and averages 3.0 rebounds per game.
