Thursday July 25, 2013Florida Football and Volleyball Verizon Fan Day Coming on Saturday, August 17
To kick off the 2013 season, the University of Florida football team and volleyball team will once again come together for a special fan day experience. On Saturday, August 17, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., both teams will take part in Verizon Fan Day in the Stephen C. O’Connell Center. Admission is free and gates will open at 2:30 p.m.
Gator fans will have the chance to get autographs from members of the football and volleyball teams, Head Coach Will Muschamp, the volleyball coaching staff, cheerleaders, and Gatorettes. The University Athletic Association will supply 2013 Gator football and volleyball team posters for coach and athlete autographs. The UAA cannot allow outside items to be brought in to the event due to NCAA compliance issues. Due to the high demand for many of the players' and coaches' autographs, the lines will be monitored and closed to ensure that fans are not waiting for autographs with no chance of reaching the signing table by the event's conclusion.
In addition to the autograph session, the volleyball team will hold its annual Orange & Blue scrimmage from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. The volleyball team will then sign autographs for fans from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. alongside the 2012 SEC Champion Florida soccer team.
Earlier in the day, Gator Boosters and the UAA Ticket Office will be hosting a Select-A-Seat event from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. in the Evans Champions Club. Fans that may be interested in purchasing season or single game premium seat tickets for the 2013 Florida Football season can register for a tour and get a taste of the experience, prior to the Verizon Fan Day event, by visiting Gator Boosters online at GatorBoosters.org.
Fans can also visit the Bryan E. Kornblau Foyer, located in the James W. "Bill" Heavener Football Complex, which will be open from 12 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. that afternoon. Fans can view the trophy cases and hi-definition televisions, displaying highlights from the Gators’ national championships in 1996, 2006 and 2008, as well as the three crystal national championship trophies. Also on display are all three Heisman Trophies and tributes to the eight SEC Championships that the Gators have earned since 1991.
