The University of Florida swimming and diving team had 23 members selected to the 2012-13 College Swimming Coaches Association of America All-America teams announced on Tuesday. UF’s men had 13 swimmers recognized, while the women had 10.


All-America Honors are conferred upon those athletes who finish in the top-eight of an individual or relay event at their respective NCAA Championship.  Athletes who finish in places 9-16 in the consolation finals of individual or relay events at their respective NCAA Championship receive Honorable Mention All-America recognition.


Florida’s 23 total selections were tied for the third-most among all the schools. They were also second of the SEC schools behind Georgia, who won the women’s national championship and led all others with 27 selections. Three Gators secured All-American honors in all seven potential events, junior Marcin Cieslak (Warsaw, Poland), freshman Natalie Hinds (Midland, Texas) and freshman Sinead Russell (Burlington, Ontario).


The women finished sixth at the 2013 NCAA Championships. Nine women for the Gators made the first team All-America honors. Those include 400 IM NCAA Champion Elizabeth Beisel (North Kingstown, R.I.), senior Jamie Bohunicky (Gainesville, Fla.), Hinds, junior Hilda Luthersdottir (Harfnarfjordur, Iceland), junior Alicia Mathieu (Marlborough, Conn.), freshman Lindsey McKnight (Coral Springs, Fla.), Russell, freshman Jessica Thielmann (Newcastle, England) and junior Ellese Zalewski (Melbourne, Australia). Freshman Ashlee Linn (Southfield, Mich.) earned Honorable Mention All-America.


For the Gator men, nine received first-team All-America honors and four were honorable mention for their finishes at the 2013 NCAA Championships. The Orange and Blue finished sixth overall with a NCAA title in the 800 free relay. Cieslak, sophomore Matt Curby (Oviedo, Fla.), junior Brad deBorde (Longwood, Fla.), sophomore Matt Elliott (Peoria, Ill.), freshman Corey Main (Auckland, New Zealand), senior Cameron Martin (Clearwater, Fla.), red-shirt junior Sebastien Rousseau (Cape Town, South Africa), sophomore Dan Wallace (North Berwick, Scotland) and freshman Pawel Werner (Wroclaw, Poland) all earned first team All-America honors for top-eight finishes.


The Honorable Mention All-America team includes sophomore Ricky Munch (Clifton, Va.), junior Connor Signorin (East Windsor, N.J.), sophomore Eduardo Solaeche-Gomez (Madrid, Spain) and senior Jason Taylor (Plant City, Fla.).
