Seven Gator track and field athletes competed at the Payton Jordan Invitational, with three personal bests courtesy of Cory McGee (Pass Christian, Miss.), Agata Strausa (Riga, Latvia) and Stephanie Strasser (Fernandina Beach, Fla.).
McGee ran a new personal best in the women’s 1,500 meters, putting herself at second all-time in program history with her time of 4:10.55, ranking second in the NCAA in 2013. Strausa came through the finish shortly after, solidifying her spot at third all-time at Florida in 4:11.27 and fourth in the NCAA this season.
Strasser finished her section of the women’s 3,000-meter steeplechase in 10:19.30, a new personal best and third all-time in Gator history.
Two Gators finished just off their personal bests in the women’s 1,500, as Shelby Hayes (Winter Park, Fla.) and Mandy Perkins (Ormond Beach, Fla.) finished just off their personal bests Sunday. Hayes finished in 4:19.89, just .17 off her lifetime best, and Perkins in 4:22.55, just over a second off of her personal record.
The Gators are off until the 2013 SEC Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Mizzou’s Audrey J. Walton Stadium. The four-day meet is slated for Thursday-Sunday, May 9-12.
