Former University of Florida golfer Billy Horschel recorded his first victory on the PGA Tour on Sunday, April 28 when he took home the Zurich Classic of New Orleans title. Horschel completed the four-round tournament in 268 strokes (-20).

Sitting in second place coming into Sunday’s final round, Horschel put together one of his finest rounds of the year to take home his first title on tour. Horschel used a stretch of six consecutive birdies to fuel him to a final round-64 (-8). He sealed his victory with a 27-foot birdie putt on the 18th hole to hold off second-place finisher D.A. Points. Points finished one stroke behind Horschel for the event.

In his four years at the University of Florida, Horschel was named to the All-SEC First Team four times, won the 2009 SEC individual title, and was a four-time All-American. He became the fifth player in program history to earn All-America accolades four times in his collegiate career.

Horschel becomes the second Gator to win on the PGA Tour this year. In January, former Florida golfer Brian Gay won the Humana Challenge. It was his fourth win on tour.
