Wednesday April 17, 2013Gators Celebrate 2012-13 at Postseason Banquet

Gainesville, Fla.

Nearly 200 fans, friends and family members gathered the Gator Room to celebrate the 2012-13 season with the Gators on Wednesday evening.

 

Florida compiled a 22-15 overall record and advanced to the semifinal of the WNIT, just the second time in program the Gators advanced to that stage of a national postseason event.

 

A number of individual awards were presented to the Gators, who voted for the most deserving member of the squad for each non-statistical honor.

Additional Team Honors, Notes & Highlights from the 2012-13 Season

*reached semifinals of a national postseason tournament for the second time in program history (not including eight-team 1985 NWIT)

*recorded 650th win in program history (March 30, 2013 at James Madison)

*reached quarterfinals of a national postseason tournament for the third time in program history (not including eight-team 1985 NWIT)

*reached round of 16 of a national postseason tournament for the fifth time in program history

*Played program-record 37 games (was 35 games in 2010-11)

*Played first-ever game in the month of April

*won 20 games for the 13th time in program history; fourth time under Coach Butler

*won a postseason game for the sixth consecutive year and for the 14th time in 20 postseason trips

*awarded 20th postseason berth in program history, as well as 19th in the last 21 years

*earned sixth consecutive postseason berth

*won an SEC Tournament game for the third consecutive season

*second time in program history two Gators recorded 100 assists in a season (also in 2000-01)

*earned first win at Alabama since Feb. 5, 2009

*earned first win at Auburn since Feb. 29, 2004

*extended overall home winning streak to 15 games, the fourth-longest streak in program history

*won the Gator Holiday Classic (17th time in 21 years a team champion has been crowned)

*allowed Savannah State (Dec. 20) just 13 first half points, tied for the fifth-fewest by an opponent in program history and fewest points since Southern University scored 13 in the second half on Dec. 20, 2009

* advanced to the championship game of the Gator Holiday Classic for the 23rd time, every year of the event

* the 50-point win vs. Savannah State (Dec. 20) was the second-largest margin of victory for Florida under Coach Butler, behind the 57-point win vs. Alabama State (95-38) on Dec. 20, 2010
