Junior Mike Alford was selected to the 2013 Southeastern Conference Tournament All-Tournament Team, announced by the league at the conclusion of the tournament. The Tampa, Fla., native went 1-0 in singles and 1-0 in doubles.
On Friday against No. 17 South Carolina, Alford teamed with Luke Johnson in doubles and the duo was leading USCís 50th-ranked pair of Kyle Koch and Harry Menzies 7-6, but the match was halted after Florida won the doubles point. In singles, Alford faced Koch at No. 4 singles and won in straight sets, 6-2, 6-4, to clinch the team victory for the Gators.
In Saturdayís semifinal against No. 7 Tennessee, Alford and Johnson defeated the Volsí Taylor Patrick and Jarryd Chaplin 8-6 at No. 3 doubles, but ultimately the Gators lost the doubles point. Playing at No. 4 singles again, Alford and UTís John Collins split the first two sets of their match before play was halted after Tennessee clinched the victory.
